Road Ready NZ integration

A safety briefing for your visiting drivers, built into the booking.

Road Ready NZ helps international visitors drive confidently on our roads. Glovebox threads it into the booking they already have, so the video gets watched and the completion code gets recorded, without anyone at your counter chasing it.

Included at no extra cost. Off for every operator until you switch it on.

Why it matters

Most of your risk is a driver who does not know our roads yet

Every year thousands of visitors hire a car or a camper and set off on roads they have never driven. Driving on the left, one-lane bridges, gravel, long distances between fuel stops, and the pull of the scenery all add up. A short briefing before they collect the keys is one of the simplest things that reduces avoidable crashes, and it reflects well on you for offering it.

The catch has always been getting it done. A link buried in a confirmation email is easy to ignore. Glovebox puts the briefing where the customer is already looking, on the booking and in the pre-arrival email, and keeps a record of who completed it, so the good intention actually turns into something you can point to.

Setup

Turn it on in a couple of minutes

Road Ready is a module like any other. Switch it on from your Modules page, open its settings, and paste in the agency code Road Ready gave you. That code is the only thing it needs, and it is yours, not something we bundle in the software.

Until you save a code, Road Ready stays completely dark to your customers. No email copy, no booking-page section, no trace. The moment you save it, your visiting drivers start seeing the briefing on their next booking.

Before pickup

The reminder rides along with the pre-arrival email

A couple of days out, the pre-arrival email you already send picks up a short Road Ready section: a friendly line, a personalised link to the video, and a link back to the booking page to enter the code. It is the same email, one block richer, so there is nothing new for you to send.

If the customer has already recorded their code, the section quietly drops out of the email. Nobody gets nagged about something they have finished.

On the booking

You can see who has done it, and step in when you need to

When a customer records their code, it appears on the booking with the date and whether it came from them or from your team. Phone and counter bookings are covered too: your staff can type a code in with one action, and it is clearly marked as a staff entry.

Every entry drops a line on the booking timeline, so if a code is ever questioned you have a plain, dated record of exactly what happened and when.

Who sees it

Show it to the drivers it is meant for

Road Ready is aimed at visitors, so by default Glovebox shows it to overseas licences only, worked out from the licence country on the booking. A New Zealand driver is not asked to watch a briefing about driving here.

You can change that in a click: show it to everyone, only to a set of countries, or to everyone except a set. And because the licence country is not always known when the pre-arrival email goes out, you choose what happens then, show it to be safe, or hold it back until you know.

Straight about what it is

A record that they did it, not a checkpoint that stops them

We are careful with the words here, and you should be too. Road Ready does not give anyone a way to check a code, so the code is exactly what the customer typed, recorded against the booking as a note that they completed the briefing. Glovebox never calls it verified or confirmed, because it is not, and pretending otherwise would only create a false sense of safety.

It also does not stand between a customer and their car. Road Ready never blocks a pickup, a payment, or a bond. It is an encouragement that sits neatly beside your handover, with a clean trail if you ever need it. If down the track you want it to become a required step, that is a natural next phase to build on top.

Questions

Road Ready, answered

What is Road Ready NZ?

Road Ready NZ is a road-safety initiative for visiting drivers. A customer follows a link, watches a short road-safety video, completes a quick questionnaire, and gets a completion code. It is designed to help international visitors drive confidently on New Zealand roads, where unfamiliar rules and driving on the left catch a lot of people out.

Does the customer have to complete it before they can pick up?

No. Road Ready sits alongside your pickup, it does not block it. The prompt appears in the pre-arrival email and on the booking page, and the completion code lands on the booking when they finish. Your handover, bond and readiness gates are untouched. If you later want it to be a required step, that is a natural next phase, but today it is an encouragement, not a barrier.

Which of my customers see it?

You decide, by the country that issued their licence. Out of the box it shows to overseas licences only, since that is who Road Ready is aimed at, so a New Zealand driver is not asked to sit through a briefing meant for visitors. You can switch to everyone, or to a specific set of countries, on the settings page.

Is the completion code checked with Road Ready?

No, and we are careful never to imply that it is. Road Ready does not offer a way to check a code, so the code is a self-reported string you record against the booking as a note that the customer completed the briefing. It is a record, not a verification.

What if a customer books over the phone or at the counter?

You can type their code in yourself. The booking has a Record Road Ready code button for exactly that, and it lands on the booking with a note that a staff member entered it, so your timeline stays honest about where each code came from.

How long does it take to turn on?

A couple of minutes. Enable the Road Ready module from your Modules page, open its settings, paste in your Road Ready agency code, and it is live. Nothing is seeded, nothing is hard-coded, and it stays completely invisible to your customers until you have entered that code.

Pairs well with the pre-pickup flow, where licence and check-in are already gathered before pickup.

Give your visitors a safer start, without adding a job.
