Switch to Glovebox

Bring your fleet, customers and bookings across yourself, from Rental Car Manager, VEVS or a spreadsheet

Switch to Glovebox is a guided tool inside your workspace, not a one-off import someone runs for you. Upload your exports, let it check what it found, run a dry run that writes nothing, then switch when you are ready. You have 24 hours afterwards to undo it.

Nothing is written to Glovebox until you review the dry run and choose to continue.

Why it works this way

Your data, checked before it moves, not after

Moving a fleet, a customer list and a set of live bookings between systems is exactly the kind of job where a silent mistake is expensive: a booking that does not come across, a vehicle that ends up with the wrong customer, a deposit that looks collected when it was not. So the wizard is built around checking before writing. Every file is checked as it is uploaded, anything it cannot confidently match is put in front of you to resolve, and the dry run tells you what would happen before it happens, not after.

For most operators this is a self-serve job you can sit down and do yourself. For a bigger fleet, or a system the wizard does not yet handle on its own, you can ask us to do the switch with you instead, at any point in the flow.

Step 1

Tell it where you are coming from

Start from Rental Car Manager, a spreadsheet, or another system, and say roughly how big your fleet is. If you are on Rental Car Manager, it also asks what you actually rely on day to day before you go any further, so nothing important you need falls through a gap, and if something you rely on is not there yet, you can ask us to switch you over instead.

Where are you coming from?

Rental Car Manager gets its own export guide and reliance check. Everything else starts from a spreadsheet template.

Step 2

Upload your files, checked as they land

Coming from Rental Car Manager, there are three reports to drop in: your fleet list, your customer list, and your future bookings export. Drop a file into the wrong slot and the wizard tells you, by name, which export it actually looks like, rather than accepting it and failing later. A handful of other RCM reports are flagged as coming soon rather than pretended to work.

Required reports in bold; optional ones not yet built are shown as coming soon, not hidden.

Step 3

Match anything it could not work out on its own

Most values match automatically. Only what the wizard was not confident about, a vehicle category it had not seen before, a location name spelled two different ways, is put in front of you to resolve, with how many rows it affects shown alongside it. Everything else is matched already and never shown to you at all.

Match what we could not work out

Only the values we were not confident about show here. Everything else is already matched.

"Compact" Vehicle group · 14 rows affected
"Airport Branch" Location · 6 rows affected

Match it to something you already have, or create it fresh.

Step 4

A dry run, with nothing written to Glovebox yet

Run the dry run and it counts what would come across, by vehicle, customer and booking, and flags anything that would block the switch. Download the full list of warnings as a CSV and work through it with your team. Nothing is created in Glovebox at this point, so running it again costs you nothing, and the switch itself only continues once there is nothing left blocking it.

Step 5

The switch runs, then you reconcile it against your own reports

Once you are happy with the dry run, the real switch runs in the background. You can close the tab and come back to it. Afterwards, Glovebox shows you a reconcile screen with the totals it wrote next to your own reports from your old system, so you can tick each one off yourself rather than taking its word for it.

Compare these against your own reports. Tick each one off once you are satisfied.

Step 6

A go-live checklist, and 24 hours to change your mind

Before you flip it on, a checklist reminds you to bring across anything that changed in your old system since you switched, connect Stripe, review your terms and email templates, and swap the booking widget on your site. Turning on automated messages for switched bookings, pre-check-in, balance-due, pickup reminders and the post-hire review request, is its own deliberate step, and a confirmation is never re-sent for a booking you already had. You have 24 hours from the switch itself to undo it if something is not right.

Nothing here fires on its own. You choose when to go live.

Straight about where this stands

A real built tool for Rental Car Manager, a template for everything else

Rental Car Manager is the system this wizard knows in detail today: it recognises the export, checks each file as it lands, and has its own reliance checklist before you upload anything. Coming off VEVS, another booking system, or a spreadsheet already, you work from a Glovebox template instead, which is still a guided, checked move, just not one built around that system's own export format yet.

Either way, nothing is written until the dry run has been reviewed, and for a bigger fleet, or anything this wizard cannot bring across on its own, asking us to do the switch with you is there from the first screen, not a fallback you have to go looking for.

Questions

Switch to Glovebox, answered

Which systems can I switch from?

Rental Car Manager has its own dedicated path: the wizard recognises your export, tells you exactly which three reports to pull, and checks each file against what it expects as you upload it. Coming from VEVS, another booking system, or just a spreadsheet, you fill in a Glovebox template instead and switch the same way from there. For a bigger fleet, or anything the wizard cannot bring across on its own, you can ask us to do the switch with you.

Does anything get written to Glovebox before I am ready?

No. Everything up to that point, uploading, matching and the dry run, only ever reads your files. Nothing is created in Glovebox until you review the dry run and choose to continue, and you can run the dry run again as many times as you like first.

What does the dry run actually check?

It counts what would come across, by vehicle, customer and booking, and flags anything that would block the switch, with a plain description of each warning and a CSV you can download and work through. If there is a blocking item, you fix it or ask for help before the wizard lets you continue.

What if the numbers do not look right afterwards?

That is what the reconcile step is for. Once the switch has run, you compare the totals against your own reports from your old system and tick each one off. If something is wrong, you have 24 hours from the switch itself (not from going live) to undo it, as long as nothing has since happened on the switched data that undoing would lose.

Will my customers notice anything part-way through?

Not until you turn it on. Automated messages for switched bookings, pre-check-in reminders, balance-due reminders, pickup reminders and post-hire review requests, only start once you flip the switch on the go-live checklist, and a booking confirmation is never re-sent for something that already happened in your old system.

What does it cost?

Nothing extra. The wizard is part of the platform, and an assisted switch for a bigger fleet is something we scope and agree with you directly, not a surprise line item.

Start free, and bring your fleet across in your own time.
