Payments, deposits & bonds
How are bonds handled?
Bonds are placed as a hold on the customer's card rather than a charge. You can request a bond hold manually, or have it placed automatically as part of the booking's schedule.
By default, a hold stays on the card past your release timeframe if there's an unsettled post-hire charge (excess km, late return, fuel) or an unreviewed speeding alert on the hire — for up to the number of extra days you've set, since a card hold can't be renewed indefinitely. You can switch a workspace back to releasing strictly on the timeframe instead, and a member of staff can always release a hold by hand. If a hold can't be placed automatically, Glovebox falls back to emailing the customer a request rather than silently failing.
